How Provider Verification Works Before Your Account Is Approved

PSG applications take longer than a typical website signup because every application is checked against public provider records. Here is exactly what gets verified and why.

There is a version of B2B onboarding where you enter an email address and receive a login in ten seconds. PSG does not do that, and clinics applying for wholesale access notice the difference immediately.

The extra step is the point. Wholesale supply to healthcare providers requires confirming that the provider is real, licensed, and the person who says they are.

What we collect

The application asks for the information needed to verify a practice, and nothing beyond it:

  • A 10-digit NPI number, which is required rather than optional.
  • The state in which the practice is licensed.
  • The supervising physician or provider responsible for the account.
  • Practice name, address, and contact details.

What the NPI check actually does

The National Provider Identifier is the public identifier for a healthcare provider. Submitting a number is not evidence that it belongs to you, so every application is checked against the national registry.

The lookup confirms the number resolves to a real provider record and compares the registered details — name, address, and provider information — against what was submitted. Where the practice details match the registry, the application is marked as verified. Where they do not, it is flagged for a human to review rather than rejected automatically.

Occasionally the registry itself is unavailable or slow. In that case the check is recorded as inconclusive rather than as a failure, and the application is reviewed manually. A registry outage is never treated as a reason to deny a legitimate clinic.

What we deliberately do not ask for

No payment details. No patient information, and no protected health information of any kind. Wholesale verification is about the practice, not about anyone treated by the practice.

Because no payment is collected on this site, there are no card credentials to store, breach, or mishandle.

What happens after approval

Once an application is approved, the clinic receives an approval email with next steps. The account then has access to the catalog with wholesale pricing, can submit order requests, and receives a manual invoice separately whenever an order is placed.

Approved clinics are also invited to schedule a call with our team directly, which is the fastest route to sorting out product questions, account-level discounts, or a first order.

If your application needs more information

Some applications cannot be matched cleanly on the first pass — an NPI registered to a different address than the practice listing, or a supervising provider whose details differ from the registry entry. That is not a denial. Our team will reach out and ask for clarification, and most of these resolve quickly.

A note on scope
